If you have a slew of guests set to arrive at your home for holiday get-togethers, impress them with an entryway design they won’t forget. It’s easy to give your space a quick makeover your guests will covet. Here are five tips to make them swoon.

1. Give it a theme.

Making sure your entryway is a cohesive space is one of the most important things you can do. Decide what your inspiration is. Whether you’re going for a rustic ambiance or more of a modern chic feel, your guests will be impressed by a unified design.

2. Make it feel more spacious with organization.

This is an easy step if you add cabinetry or other storage units. Keep your entryway looking more polished by installing doors to cubbies and shelving units to hide your belongings. In addition, ensuring shoes are put in their designated spaces instead of strewn around the floor will keep your entrance in tip-top shape.

3. Get the right lighting.

If you’re lucky enough to have your space filled with natural light, utilize it! Even if you’re in need of a supplemental fixture or two, the lighting in your entryway should be warm and inviting to greet guests on their arrival and see them off upon their departure.

4. Make it creative.

Give the entryway a splash of personality by allowing each family member to decorate their own storage space. This could include painting the inside of their cubby or choosing a colorful bin for their belongings.

5. Use wall space, but don’t overdo it.

Hanging a few hooks on the wall to hold important and often-used items is a must. It’s great for keeping things like hats and keys organized. If there’s too much on the wall, though, your guests’ senses will be on overload. Keep it simple by using hooks for the belongings you use the most, and store everything else on a shelf or in a container.
