When you don’t make cleaning a habit, your house can get disorderly – fast. Why wait until spring to get your spring cleaning done? Instead, make it easier on yourself by creating cleaning and organizing habits throughout the year; that way, come spring, it won’t seems like such a big project to mark off your to-do list. Making spring cleaning a year-round goal is easy with these three tips.

1. Set aside time daily.

Cleaning doesn’t have to take hours on end, but dedicating 10-30 minutes to cleaning and organizing each day will keep your home tidy year-round. To start, choose a room or area of your home, set a timer and clean until it goes off. By doing this daily (or even most days of the week), it will be much easier to keep your house neat.

2. Made a donation schedule.

One way to know you’re getting rid of items you no long need is to set a donation schedule. If you choose to donate items to a local charity once a month or once every other month, you’re guaranteeing that you’ll go through your things on a regular basis. So by the time it’s spring, you’ll already have a good idea of what need to keep and what you need to donate.

3. Invite the family.

Cleaning by yourself can be time consuming. If you get your family involved, you’ll get it done in a fraction of the time. Set small daily and/or weekly chores for each family members (i.e., arrange your closet) as well as larger family goals (i.e., deep clean the media room). When you have your entire family working together, things will get done more quickly and your home will look great.

These pieces of advice will make your home “spring clean” throughout the entire year!
