Whether you work from home full-time, own your own business, or have a space set aside for work tasks and bills, organization is the key to an efficient home office. To keep documents and supplies from drifting into other areas of the home, make sure to create a space separate from the rest of the house (whether that means a corner of the living room or its own room is up to you!) and include the following three “stations” to keep it orderly:

# 3 -Work Station.

The work station is where you actually spend your time working and should include a desk, computer, printer, phone, and anything else you use frequently.

Cut down on visual distractions by keeping the surface of the work station free of clutter.

A desk calendar or small planner is a good item to have set out in the open to keep you on task.

# 2 - Supply Station.

Keep office supplies in a separate cabinet, closet, or other storage spot.

Organize the supply station further by breaking supplies into categories and grouping the like items together – for example: mailing supplies, writing supplies, printing supplies.

# 1 - Information Station.

This station is for sorting and filing documents and anything else you may need to reference later.

Binders with previous work, folders with invoices and billsprofessional manuals, and other similar materials should be kept neatly organized for quick reference.

Arrange binders and books on a bookshelf near a filing cabinet for a one-stop information station.

You may need additional stations if your work calls for it, but these three are a great starting point for an efficient, well organized home office!
