From running shoes to winter boots, high heels, sandals and old-fashioned kicks, there’s at least one pair of shoes for every person in your house. The question is: What can you do with them all to keep them organized? Whether you’ve got a big closet or one on the smaller side, shoe storage is simple. The best thing about it is that you can get creative! Here are four pieces of advice when it comes to storing your shoes so you can have a more organized closet quickly.

Small closets.

If you have a small closet and a lot of shoes, it’s time to think about shelving units. With extra shelf space, you’ll be able to place your shoes on top of and under the shelving for double the space. You can also consider using an over-the-door shoe hanger to store multiple pairs of shoes without taking up much space at all.

Large closets.

For larger closets, you have a bit more leeway with how you’d like to arrange your shoes. A rack, shelf or customized storage unit dedicated to your shoes will highlight your footwear as well as add a personalized look and feel to your closet. If you’re opting for customized shoe storage, take into consideration whether you’d like to include drawers, shoe hanging units or cubbyholes.

Under the bed.

When you’ve run out of closet space, it’s time to discover other areas of your home where you can store your shoes. One idea is to place shoes in small rolling bins and slide them under the bed. This way, your shoes are easy to access when you need them and out of the way when you don’t.

Wall-mounted shelves.

Whether you’re in the bedroom, the garage, the pantry or the entryway, wall-mounted shoe storage can add a new dimension to your design. Plus, it can help give the appearance of clearing clutter by pulling your shoes off the ground. All you have to do is install shelving units at waist level or higher, and your shoes will become part of your interior decorations.

Arranging your footwear is a cinch when you have a little inspiration. Shoe storage is at your fingertips with these four tips!
